About the game
In Happy Mochi, players race to empty their hands by playing adorable mochi cards in pairs—but there is a deliciously tricky restriction: once cards are in your hand, you cannot rearrange them. To play a pair, the two cards must be adjacent, so every draw and every decision affects the options you will have later.
On your turn, either draw a card and place it somewhere in your hand, or play two neighboring cards that meet the current value requirement. Depending on the central cards and the current higher-or-lower rule, your pair may need to form a number higher or lower than the pair already in play. If the central pair shares a color, your played pair must also match in color.
The best moment comes when you hold two adjacent cards of the same value. Play them together, shout “Happy Mochi!”, and ignore the usual value and color restrictions. Special card effects can also reverse the current rule, force a player to draw, pass cards, or save a card for later.
A round ends when one player empties their hand. Everyone else scores penalty points for cards remaining, and the game continues until someone reaches the agreed score limit. The player with the fewest points wins. Happy Mochi is a cute, quick, interactive card-shedding game with clever hand management, tactical timing, and just enough chaos for family game nights.
