About the game

In Patchwork Americana Edition, two players compete to create the most beautiful and efficient quilt from an ever-changing selection of fabric patches. This edition features new Americana-inspired artwork and components celebrating quilting traditions in the United States, while keeping the acclaimed gameplay of Uwe Rosenberg’s original Patchwork.

Each player builds a personal quilt on a 9×9 board. On a turn, choose one of the next available patches, pay its button cost, fit it into your quilt, and move along the shared time track according to that patch’s time cost. The player who is furthest behind on the track takes the next turn, creating a clever timing system that may let one player take several turns in a row.

Buttons are both the game’s currency and its victory points. Choose patches carefully: some cost fewer buttons, some take less time, and others produce button income later in the game. Fill awkward gaps with valuable 1×1 patches, race to complete a 7×7 area for a bonus, and minimize empty spaces—each unfilled square costs points at the end of the game.

When both players reach the end of the time track, the player with the most buttons after subtracting penalties for empty quilt spaces wins. Patchwork Americana is an elegant two-player game of tile placement, spatial planning, timing, and efficient resource management.
